An APPOINTMENT with the Town Clerk's Office is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED when filing an Intention of Marriage Application.

Marriage License Requirements                   

        • $40.00 fee for filing marriage intentions
        • Residents must file in the town where one or the other lives
        • If both parties are non-residents of Maine, then you may apply in any Maine town office. It does not need to be the same town where you are married. 
        • Licenses are valid for 90 days from the date of intentions-not the date issued
        • License can be used anywhere in Maine-Only valid in the State of Maine
        • If either party was previously married, parties must show how the previous marriage ended (just the most recent).  Proof must be a certified copy, no photocopies - this must have a raised seal, stamp or original signature.
