REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS
Structural Engineer Review 468 Limerick Road
The Town of Arundel, Maine is seeking proposals from State of Maine approved Structural Engineers or Firms to provide professional services to assist the town in the structural review of the existing Arundel Fire Station built in 1998.
The proposals shall be submitted either by envelope clearly identified on the outside as “Structural Engineer Review to the following address or it can be e-mailed to the Town Manager at the e-mail below.

All proposals shall be returned to the Town Manager by November 1, 2026, and include a flat price and/or hourly price for your engineering services.

Background
The Town of Arundel is in need of a professional engineering evaluation of the structural integrity of its existing fire station as it relates to a possible expansion. The station presently consists of an apparatus area that is 3-bays and 4,080 square feet in size, and a living area of 1,240 square feet that includes, kitchen/day room and 4 bedrooms. The Town is considering the expansion of the apparatus bay to the rear of 900 square feet (60x15), to include 3 additional bay openings to be in line with the openings at the front of the structure. The town is seeking opinions and advice as to what code requirements this proposed expansion might involve and whether there are code impacts beyond the expansion itself. It is in need of professional engineering evaluation of the viability of the proposed project. Further the Town would seek opinions relative to the repositioning of the Decontamination Room and whether the proposed expansion can be conducted without interruption to the station’s normal conduct of its business.
