If a resident is in need of help with food, there are programs that can help.
Maine Harvest Bucks - Use SNAP/EBT and get BONUS fruits and vegetables. Supported by USDA FINI and Maine Farmland Trust. Visit the full site at maineharvestbucks.org. Frinklepod Farm Store located at 244 Log Cabin Road here in Arundel with hours from mid May to mid October - Tuesday's - Friday's 9am - 6pm, Saturday's 8am - 5 pm and Sunday's 10am - 4pm. Call for winter hours at 289-5805 or log on to frinklepodfarm.com. For every $5 spent on local food by using your SNAP or EBT benefits card you receive $5 more for local fruits and vegetables.
COS Food Pantry - If residents of Arundel find themselves in need of food all they need to do is call Community Outreach Services (COS) at 985-3844 and schedule an appointment to shop. Their hours are Monday's from 12 noon to 2:00 p.m., Tuesday's and Thursday's from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., and Friday's from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.
Holiday Food Baskets - Prior to the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, if you feel you are going to be in need of a holiday food basket please give me a call to have your name placed on the list. If you are single or even have a family Harvest Pilgrim puts on a holiday dinner for anyone wishing to join them. It is a nice way to be with others for the holiday. Please give me a call when the time comes and I will be able to give you more details such as the time and location of the Holiday Dinner.
