Veteran's Exemption...

 
Estate of Veterans, including property held in joint tenancy with the veteran's spouse or held in a revocable living trust for the benefit of that veteran, are exempt up to the just value of $7,000.00 for those veterans of WWI and before and $6,000.00 for those veterans of WWII and after.   "Veteran" means any person who was in  ACTIVE SERVICE in the armed forces of the United States; during a federally recognized war period and  discharged, retired or separated from the armed forces under honorable conditions.

Applications are available at the Town Office. 
 
Eligibility Requirements

Must be 62 years of age
Apply in writing on or before April 1st of the year the exemption is being requested.
Must be a legal resident of the town
Must have a copy of your honorable discharge certificate (DD214)
Federally Recognized war periods:
World War I  4/6/17 - 11/11/18 inclusive
World War I  4/6/17 to 3/31/20 (served in Russia) inclusive
World War II 12/7/41 to 12/31/46 inclusive
Korean Conflict 6/27/50 to 1/31/55 inclusive
Vietnam War 2/28/61 to 5/7/75. A veteran of the Vietnam war must have served on active duty for a period of more than 180 days.
