Arundel Fire-Rescue is accepting applications for Full-Time Firefighter/EMT and Per-Diem (Advanced/Paramedic preferred).
Upon successful completion of the process, those not selected for employment will remain on a hiring list for one year.

Arundel, Maine is a booming community of 4,500 people which can swell to over 8,000 in the summer months. with over 1500 individual households, Commercial and Industrial properties, situated at nearly 24 square miles in York County. Arundel borders the Towns of Biddeford, Kennebunk, Kennebunkport and Lyman with strong automatic/mutual aid relationships.

 

The position of Firefighter/EMT provides emergency medical and firefighting services, participates in community risk reduction events, provides life-safety inspections, attend drills and training, inspect and maintain equipment, and to perform other related duties.

Minimum Requirements

  • Candidates must be 18 years of age
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Maine driver’s license with no violations within 2 years
  • Must pass a candidate physical ability test
  • Certified in EVOC and/or AVOC
  • Incident Command System (ICS) 100 and 200
  • Maine State or National Register EMT Basic
  • Pro Board or IFSAC Certified Firefighter I (meeting NFPA 1001)

Preferred Requirements

  • Maine State or National Register Advanced EMT or EMT-Paramedic

  •  Pro Board or IFSAC Certified Firefighter II (meeting NFPA 1001)

Letter to Applicant

Arundel Fire-Rescue (AFR) seeks career-oriented teammates eager to serve the community. Currently AFR is seeking candidates to fill (2) two open positions for a career firefighter/EMT and numerous per-diem (AEMT or Paramedic preferred). If you are interested in a career at AFR, please read all the information below, complete, and return all appropriate documentation.

Selected individuals will have an understanding and can work with other full time, part time and paid on call staff. Individuals seeking employment must be customer service oriented, professional, flexible, punctual, and able to work as part of a team. Below is a list of the documents that must be included with your application packet:

Applicants must hold a current Maine EMS License. Maine Firefighter I or equivalent certification is required. A valid Driver’s License and completion of an approved Emergency Vehicle Operator’s Course are required. A high school diploma or equivalent is also a requirement. Compliance with Maine EMS rules including vaccination status is required.

 All full-time candidates must complete a criminal background check, pass a physical agility test (physician’s clearance required), and participate in an interview process. Full-time candidates must obtain an Advanced EMT license within two years of hire, if not already an Advance or Paramedic EMT.
